In just two days of drone strikes on Kyiv and surrounding areas, over 1900 tons of harmful emissions were released into the air.
This was reported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.
In June, Kyiv and the surrounding areas became the epicenter of one of the most devastating drone attacks.
On June 6 and 10, 1902 tons of harmful substances entered the atmosphere.
Preliminary calculations indicate that the environmental damage from this exceeded 5.7 million hryvnias.
“All these incidents were accompanied by uncontrolled emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere – without filtration, in combat conditions. Mass burning of fuels, construction materials, plastics, and equipment was recorded.
This is not just the destruction of infrastructure – it is a systematic destruction of the environment, air pollution, and the creation of long-term health risks for the capital's residents,” noted the Ministry of Environment.
It should be noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in Ukraine has significantly increased. In 2024, this figure nearly doubled compared to previous years.
