Honoring the Heroes of Rescue
Diplomats from Denmark, Japan, Sweden, and representatives of international organizations arrived at the site of the hostile strike in the Solomyanskyi district of the capital to honor the memory of three Ukrainian rescuers who perished in the line of duty.
The international community continues to express solidarity with Ukraine and its rescuers. In Kyiv, at the site of the night missile strike where three State Emergency Service (SES) employees lost their lives, foreign embassy representatives and international organizations paid their respects.
Along with SES Head Andrii Danyk, the site of the tragedy was visited by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, Ambassador of Japan Masashi Nakagome, First Secretary of the Embassy of Sweden Sofia Westberg, and FIRE AID representative Edward Matthews.
“This visit was not only a gesture of condolence – diplomats had the opportunity to witness the extent of the destruction firsthand and express support for the Ukrainian rescuers who risk their lives every day.
The SES has been receiving numerous letters of solidarity from international partners, including the European Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC), the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO), and other organizations,” the rescuers wrote.
In memory of the fallen heroes, residents of the capital bring flowers, candles, and leave words of gratitude at the site of the tragedy.
Ukrainian rescuers remain a symbol of courage, self-sacrifice, and professionalism. Their bravery is recognized not only in Ukraine but far beyond its borders.
