On the night of June 6, a massive Russian strike resulted in severe damage to the Hryhorii Skovoroda library in Kyiv's Solomyansky district, reported Ihor Stepurin, the executive director of the Ukrainian Publishers Association.
“This library is undoubtedly one of the finest in Kyiv, and its damage is a significant blow to the local community,” the statement read.
The blast wave damaged the facade, shattering windows and doors. However, the library confirmed that no staff members were injured, and the books remained intact.
“Efforts to mitigate the consequences are ongoing. Rescuers, volunteers, and local authorities are working together to assist those affected. A support headquarters has been set up in the library,” the library team reported.
Additionally, during the night attack, the facade of the Museum of Ukraine in the Second World War, located near the “Motherland” monument, was also damaged.
