Honoring the Innocent Souls
Today, June 4th, Ukraine honors the memory of children who lost their lives due to armed aggression.
According to official data, 631 children have died as a result of the invasion, with 1975 children injured.
In our capital, 13 young lives were taken. Two of them fell victim to attacks this year, reported the KMVA.
“These are not just statistics. These are names, smiles, dreams unfulfilled. This is the emptiness, the heartbreak of parents, a pain that does not fade. Each child is a whole universe. Their lives were cut short where laughter and lullabies should have resounded. They did not hold weapons, nor did they choose war. They were killed by those who brought evil to our land. We will not forget any child. We will not forgive any loss. Our nation fights for a life that should be bright and safe for our children,” said KMVA.
For over 11 years, the aggressor state has been trying to destroy our country's future, systematically and ruthlessly killing families, maiming children, abducting and deporting them, reminded the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Kyiv.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the geography of this atrocity has spread across all of Ukraine, and today the capital mourns its lost children.
“Every citizen remembers these crimes against innocent victims of aggression on the streets of Kyiv,” noted the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Kyiv. “The ordinary residential buildings where the deceased children lived and dreamed cannot be forgotten or forgiven.”
“Boys and girls whose lives were cut short due to Russian strikes and shelling, through battles that Ukraine did not want, yet has been defending against for years. On June 4th, we honor the memory of all such children,” wrote President Volodymyr Zelensky. “Today, we still do not know the exact number of those killed because we do not have access to temporarily occupied territories. We will still have to establish how many adults and children killed by Russia are buried in mass graves near Mariupol and other destroyed cities and villages.”
He emphasized that the world must not forget or forgive Russia for this terrible pain and such aggression — an absolutely unprovoked and criminal war against Ukraine.
“In memory of each killed child, in memory of each ruined human life, there must be genuine solidarity in the world — all in Europe, all in America, all in other parts of the world — so that Russia is held accountable for its actions and forced to return peace to Ukraine and Ukrainians,” stressed Volodymyr Zelensky.
