The Russian Federation is actively improving its ballistic missiles to make the task of the Ukrainian air defense more challenging.
This was stated by Yuriy Ihnat, head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a telethon.
Modernization of Russian Missiles
Following modernization, Russian ballistic missiles can deploy radar decoys, complicating the work of the Patriot system.
«We have received confirmation from our partners that the enemy has upgraded the missiles used for ballistic trajectory attacks, specifically the Iskander-M. Each missile can now release radar decoys as it approaches its target,» the spokesperson noted.
As a result, the efficiency of air defense might be reduced.
«A missile flying along a quasi-ballistic trajectory maneuvers during flight, making it harder for the Patriot system to determine the exact interception point,» Ihnat added.
