Honoring Courage: Igor Kozlovsky Award
The Center for Civil Liberties announced that despite all the suffering, Oleksiy Anula managed to maintain his dignity and inner freedom.
The Igor Kozlovsky Award was established in 2025 to honor those who uphold human dignity across various fields: culture, education, politics, and business.
The goal of the award is to showcase the importance of human rights advocacy in everyday life.
This year marked the first award ceremony, which received over one hundred nominations from across Ukraine. An independent jury selected three laureates:
Oleh Miroshnychenko — for his contribution to amendments regarding the recognition of disability due to Russian attacks.
The "Platsdarm" Association — for the return of fallen soldiers to their homes.
Oleksiy Anula — for documenting his experience in Russian captivity and assisting in the release of Ukrainian prisoners.
The Center for Civil Liberties shared on Instagram that Oleksiy Anula, a veteran from Chernihiv, has been awarded for his contributions to the defense of human dignity.
“After his release, he continues to support the families of the detained and testify about the crimes committed by Russia. In 2025, he published a book titled Jingle Bellz, reflecting on his personal experience,” it was stated.
Oleksiy emphasized that hundreds of thousands of people are doing everything possible to keep our country together despite the pressures from the enemy.
“Dignity is when you are willing to give a part of yourself for the good of others, for your homeland,” he added.
Oleksiy's mother received the award statuette during the solemn ceremony.
He was captured in March 2022 in Lukashivka, near Chernihiv.
He recognized the Russian general who interrogated him — Yevhen Poplavskyi, a native of Donetsk.
In December 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine charged Poplavskyi with crimes against Ukrainians during the capture of Lyman.
Oleksiy found the general who interrogated him just a month later.
He continues to expose war criminals.
