New Exhibition at Kyiv Railway Station: Opening of Ukraine WOW
The Ukraine WOW exhibition has opened at the Kyiv Central Railway Station. Over a hundred exhibits and interactive zones have been set up in the area at track 14.
«We want everyone who visits the exhibition to feel a connection to the remarkable Ukrainians of the past and pride in how modern achievements continue to impress despite the ongoing war, — say the organizers.
Those who attended the exhibition in 2019 will recognize the location, featuring the popular «Tunnel of Love» from Klevan, which is part of the new exhibition.
Visitors can explore a wheat field under the sky, a pond with water lilies, the 20-meter Cossack boat Chaitka, and a modern drone, Magura, representing the fight against enemies over the Black Sea. Historical artifacts like Mazepa's saber, a sword from Kievan Rus, a replica of the golden pectoral, VR experiences to fly over the Carpathians and Sivaš, and rare old prints mentioning Ukraine are also on display, alongside notable achievements of independence like statuettes from Eurovision, the Oscars, and the Ballon d'Or. Additionally, a restored mosaic titled «Boroviter» and an exhibition about the residents of the «Slovo» building and the sixtiers are featured. Visitors can even «call» the apartments of Khvylovy, Sosyura, Tychyna, or Ostap Vyshnya to hear their responses.
The exhibition is interactive, allowing visitors to «peek» into windows of homes where pies are being baked, coffee brewed, or to imagine themselves as rulers while seated on a princely throne. They can view original old prints or sit with the Konotop witches on a porch in a specially arranged area.
Due to wars that have periodically devastated our land, very few Ukrainians can boast of a heritage that has been passed down through generations. Therefore, the organizers invite everyone to regard the achievements of the people as their own, which in turn places a responsibility for the future.
Project organizer and Gres Todorchuk partner Yaroslav Hres shared that in 2019, over 300,000 people visited the exhibition. She sincerely hopes that this exhibition will attract a similar number of visitors. Meanwhile, Ukrzaliznytsia, as the hosting party, plans to organize visits for people from frontline territories, as well as invite soldiers arriving in Kyiv.
