Spartan Weekend in Kyiv: A Sporting Challenge for a Cause
On September 13 and 14, 2025, Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, hosted the grand sporting event - Spartan Trifecta Weekend, aimed at supporting the special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The event was organized by the Spartan Race Ukraine community in collaboration with the Diana Podolyanchuk Charity Fund.
Participants competed in three races: Sprint – 5 kilometers with 20 obstacles, Super – 10 kilometers with 25 obstacles, and Beast – 21 kilometers with 30 obstacles.
To conquer these distances, competitors had to overcome high barriers, wade through muddy trenches, climb ropes, crawl under barbed wire, and keep running.
The Spartan Trifecta Weekend also featured parasport athletes, including wounded defenders of Ukraine fighting against the aggressor state.
For children, the organizers arranged a Kids Competitive race filled with exciting adventures.
During the event, a charity auction was held, where memorable and valuable lots were raffled, including a unique medallion in the shape of Zmiinyi, adorned with stones from the island and signed by Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov.
Funds raised during the charity event will be directed towards purchasing combat boats for the active operational units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“A strong nation is a strong army. Together we support our reconnaissance warriors and develop Ukrainian sports, which is especially important for the youth,” emphasized Yevhen Yerin, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
