Honoring Ukraine's Armored Forces
On the occasion of the Day of Armored Forces celebrated recently in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with tank soldiers and presented them with state awards – the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the 3rd degree and the Orders of ‘For Courage’ of the 1st to 3rd degrees.
The President emphasized that armored units have become one of the strongest components of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
“Of course, with the current war involving drones and new technological aspects, the role of tanks has significantly changed. The tasks for tank crew commanders have become much more complicated. However, the importance of our armored forces remains substantial. The bravery and accuracy of our tank soldiers, the firepower and maneuverability of tanks are still crucial for defending our positions and defeating Russian soldiers, their positions, and fortifications,” stated Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the President, there are currently over 100 tank battalions operating in the Ukrainian combat brigades.
“These are all very strong, experienced units – a significant armored force in Europe. Soldiers we are proud of. The experience that Ukraine is ready to share with our partners,” highlighted the President.
Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the tank soldiers and called on everyone to always remember those who gave their lives in the battles for Ukraine. The memory of fallen defenders was honored with a moment of silence.
