Recognition for Outstanding Achievements of the SBU
The special operation of the Security Service of Ukraine, named "Spiderweb", which resulted in the destruction of 41 Russian strategic aviation aircraft, received the President's award "National Legend of Ukraine." The SBU team was honored, and the personnel were recognized alongside other awardees of this year's ceremony. The operation was led by the Head of the SBU, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk.
President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that "Spiderweb" is a testament to the achievements of Ukrainian special services and our nation.
He thanked everyone who defends Ukraine's interests.
"We must constantly keep our focus on our state to ensure that support does not wane, both politically and especially for our soldiers. We are grateful to them for protecting Ukraine," stated President Volodymyr Zelensky during the ceremony.
"This award is a great honor for me and for the entire Service! It will motivate us for further achievements. I want to thank all staff, our covert operations unit, and also the President of Ukraine, with whom we have walked this path side by side. To our enemies, I want to say that we possess unique operational and combat experience. We have hundreds of unique operational plans, and we will not stop until the occupiers cease their aggression and Ukraine achieves a just peace," emphasized Head of the SBU, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk.
It should be noted that the SBU's operation "Spiderweb" took place on June 1, 2025. As a result, special FPV drones destroyed 34% of the entire Russian strategic aviation used in attacks on Ukraine. The total losses for Russia amounted to over 7 billion USD.
