Day of Remembrance for Defenders of Ukraine

The Parliament has declared July 28 as the Day of Remembrance and Commemoration for the defenders of Ukraine, volunteers, and civilians who have suffered from violence.
The relevant resolution №10188 was adopted on July 22, reports the association of families "Community of Olenivka".
"The Community of Olenivka thanks everyone involved for their support, as the draft resolution has been under consideration since autumn 2023, and we finally have a significant outcome.       
 This year, on the anniversary of the mass execution in Olenivka, we will be able to honor the memory of all the slain POWs at the state level", – the organization stated.
The adoption of the resolution was also responded to by the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov".
"On the night of July 28 to 29, 2022, Russia committed a mass murder of POWs who defended Mariupol in Olenivka. Now this day will symbolize our memory of those who perished in Russian captivity; of those who are currently in captivity", – the unit wrote on social media.
According to the bill, the Cabinet of Ministers is to develop and approve an action plan to properly honor the memory of the fallen at the state level.
Local authorities are recommended to do the same: prepare and conduct appropriate events in their communities.
