Award Ceremony for the Order of St. Panteleimon
The public award for professionalism and compassion is called the «Order of St. Panteleimon».
A cultural and spiritual charity event named «UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF ST. PANTELEIMON» took place in Kyiv, as reported by the Kyiv City State Administration Department of Health.
Over 500 healthcare workers from the capital welcomed the nominees and winners of the selection round for this prestigious award.
Among the participants were Valentina Ginzburg, the head of the Department of Health, Vasyl Knyazevych, head of the Honorary Council of the Award, Yuri Kuchyn, rector of Bogomolets National Medical University, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Ogryzko, regional council head Ihor Chermak, members of the councils, representatives of NGOs, clergy, relatives of fallen medics, and other esteemed guests.
The search for candidates from the capital began in February 2025. Medical institutions and volunteer organizations were invited to submit their candidates, resulting in 35 nominees from 23 groups.
This year, candidates were evaluated in seven categories.
The winner of the category «Best Doctor — Model of the Profession» was Anatoliy Ivaniuk, head of the cardiovascular center.
In the «Innovator of the Year» category, the winner was Anatoliy Rudenko, a cardiovascular surgeon.
The award for «Exemplar of Service to Society» went to the volunteer organization FRIDA Ukraine.
In the «Heart of Medicine» category, the award went to Lyubov Martynchuk, the head nurse.
Among healthcare institutions, the «Fortress of Health» award was given to the Kyiv City Center for Nephrology and Dialysis.
The «Support on the Frontline of Life» category was awarded to Oksana Surova.
The «Hero of the Medical Front» award went to Iryna Makarenko.
«We thank all healthcare workers for their unwavering commitment during the most difficult times for Ukraine. Each one deserves recognition and respect,» Valentina Ginzburg stated.
She congratulated all nominees and winners, as well as all doctors who tirelessly help and heal every day.
In May this year, the Ministry of Health signed a memorandum with the Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care concerning the initiative «Light of Memory».
The first event will be the commemoration of fallen medics on July 10.
