Cultural Exchange at Refugee Week in Greece
The organization “Ukrainian Women in Greece” proudly showcased Ukraine at the cultural event “Refugee Week Greece”. This event took place ahead of the World Refugee Day, celebrated annually on June 20.
“We celebrated World Refugee Day with heartfelt warmth”, — stated the organizers.
As part of Refugee Week Greece, an inclusive culinary gathering was held at Myrtillo café in Athens, bringing together various cultures.
Greek chef Isidora Antoniou and Ukrainian cook Halyna Martynenko delighted guests with traditional dishes from their nations. The event symbolized unity through taste and openness.
“Halyna treated everyone to her famous meat and potato pastries, which, according to her, carry warmth and love to all who taste them. She also prepared a traditional Ukrainian dessert surprise that was a true revelation for many guests”, — the publication noted.
Isidora's baked goods and Halyna's pastries created a warm atmosphere of a family table — “where the language of taste knows no boundaries”.
“This was an event about solidarity, taste, openness, and acceptance. Together — we are strong!”, — concluded the “Ukrainian Women in Greece”.
Earlier, the Foundation of the Ukrainian Community in Malta announced its participation in Refugee Week Malta.
In addition to showcasing Ukrainian culture, a central focus was also on the informational and advocacy component, emphasizing the need to support the return of abducted Ukrainian children and prisoners.
