New Book Highlights the Heroism of Ukrainian Women
A book highlighting the contributions of Ukrainian women in defending their homeland was recently launched in Kyiv.
With the support of the city authorities, the publishing house «Phoenix» released the novel «Khrashchena» by Liudmyla Okhyrenko, based on the true story of medic Tetiana Tepliuk (call sign Khrashchena) from the 12th Special Forces Brigade.
«Today, we present this significant book, published with the assistance of the Kyiv City Council as part of a program aimed at developing civil society and supporting defenders. This book is a narrative of real events from the military journey of our oldest national guard member. We are proud to publish such works about our heroes,» stated Myroslava Smirnova, the director of the Department of Public Communications.
Myroslava Smirnova expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the creation of this book.
«Today, we are honored to have the heroine of this book, Mrs. Tetiana Tepliuk, with us. You are an example for us all to continue on the path of resistance against the enemy and nation-building,» she added.
The book presentation was part of the capital’s unity platform «Strong Together».
The main character of the novel, like her prototype, fought in battles for Mariupol, Azovstal, and Olenivka. The book answers the question of where the woman found the strength to endure these challenges.
According to the author, Liudmyla Okhyrenko, this is her second book dedicated to Ukrainian defenders, and she thanked Tetiana Tepliuk for her patience and collaboration.
«Let’s preserve our beautiful land together! We must defend it! So much young blood has already been spilled for it. Our warriors, both men and women, are remarkable, and we are a wonderful nation,» Tetiana Tepliuk emphasized.
The novel «Khrashchena» by Liudmyla Okhyrenko has been distributed to all libraries in Kyiv and is not available for sale.
