New Initiative for Military Rehabilitation in Kyiv

A communal non-profit enterprise called «Military Sports» has been established in the capital, focusing on sports rehabilitation for servicemen, veterans, and their families. This decision was made today during the Kyiv City Council's plenary session.

As noted by Kyiv City Council member Vadym Vasyliuk, this initiative aims to address the urgent need for psychological and social adaptation of Ukraine's defenders through sports.

«This initiative is extremely important as it will support our defenders, help them discover new avenues for recovery after combat, integrate into society, and set an example for the youth. We want to show that caring for servicemen and veterans is our priority. The new enterprise will carry out a wide range of tasks, including organizing sports events, rehabilitation after injuries and illnesses through physical exercises, national-patriotic education for youth involving veterans, and promoting a healthy lifestyle among the population,» emphasized Vadym Vasyliuk.

He mentioned that in 2023, sports events for veterans were already held in Kyiv with the support of the Department of Youth and Sports, including the comprehensive event «Kyiv Unbreakable», a run under the chestnuts, and «Military Recovery Sports», but this is not enough.

«The creation of «Military Sports» is not just a new project developed in collaboration with the Department of Youth and Sports, but an opportunity to expand the range of services and provide our defenders with systematic support. Involving veterans in sports activities will also be an important tool for overcoming stress, recovering from combat participation, and promoting sports among residents,» added Vadym Vasyliuk.
