New Housing Support Program for Displaced Persons in Ukraine
As of January 29, a new support mechanism for internally displaced persons has been launched in Ukraine – a housing rental subsidy.
This was announced by the Ministry of Social Policy.
The program is designed for individuals who have lost their homes due to Russian aggression.
Subsidies are available for displaced persons from occupied territories or combat zones, as well as those whose homes have been destroyed and are uninhabitable (and who do not have alternative housing in free territories).
A subsidy will be granted if the family's rental expenses exceed 20% of their total income.
It is also noted that the renter and the landlord must not be relatives, the renter must not be receiving state assistance for living as an internally displaced person, and the landlord must not be receiving compensation under the "Shelter" program.
The amount of the subsidy is calculated individually, based on the average income per family member, the number of family members, and the rental cost in the specific region.
The program also covers the landlord's taxes: personal income tax, single tax, and military levy.
Subsidies can be applied for at service centers of the Pension Fund or CNAPs, as well as online through the Pension Fund portal or mobile application.
Reminder:
At the end of December, the government introduced a housing rental subsidy for internally displaced persons as part of the "Winter Support" initiative. The Cabinet has extended housing rental subsidies for displaced persons across all of Ukraine.
Displaced persons who have moved to any government-controlled region can benefit from the housing rental subsidy.
