New Funding for School Buses
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated 1.6 billion hryvnias for the purchase of 460 school buses. This will enable communities to acquire new vehicles or replace those destroyed due to the war.
This information is provided by the press service of the Ministry of Economy.
The purchases will be conducted through the electronic catalog Prozorro Market.
According to the Minister of Economy, Yuliya Svyrydenko, the "School Bus" program is an important part of the "Made in Ukraine" policy.
"This program not only provides transportation for children from remote villages to schools but also encourages Ukrainian businesses to expand production, create new jobs, and produce high-value-added goods," she emphasized.
The subsidy funds will be directed to regions where the highest number of children needs transportation to school but currently lack such opportunities. The state will cover 70 to 95% of the cost of the buses, depending on the financial capacity of the community, with the remaining expenses covered by local budgets.
First and foremost, buses will be provided to military lyceums, whose students require transportation; schools whose transport was destroyed due to the war or transferred for military needs; schools with students from communities where institutions have been damaged or destroyed; flagship schools planned for establishment in 2025, and others.
Reminder:
In the 2023-2024 academic year, communities and schools have already purchased 1007 school buses through Prozorro Market for over 3 billion hryvnias.
