New Regulations for Starlink Terminals in Ukraine
The Ukrainian government has enacted a new resolution regarding Starlink satellite terminals. From now on, only verified and registered terminals will be permitted to operate in the country, while all others will be disconnected. This was announced by Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
"This is a response to the use of Starlink by Russian forces. Drones equipped with these terminals are difficult to intercept as they fly at low altitudes and are resistant to electronic countermeasures. Operators can control them even from great distances," the minister stated.
According to him, the only technical solution to combat this issue is the implementation of a "white list" and mandatory authorization of all terminals. This decision is being executed in collaboration with SpaceX.
"The process of registering Starlink for Ukrainians will be as simple as possible. Only one visit to the nearest administrative service center is required - free of charge, quickly, and without excessive bureaucracy. Businesses will also have a straightforward and convenient algorithm for verifying Starlink terminals online at the Diia portal," the minister noted.
Military personnel will not need to visit the administrative service center. A separate secure channel through DELTA is already operational for the Armed Forces.
"You do not need to register your terminals under the military unit or share account data - simply add your terminal to the 'white list' to protect it from being blocked," the minister emphasized.
Detailed instructions for terminal registration will be provided shortly.
Earlier, Mykhailo Fedorov stated that Starlink terminals in Ukraine must undergo additional authorization for continued operation. Elon Musk had also mentioned that SpaceX took measures against unauthorized use of terminals by Russians. This followed a request from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense regarding issues with Starlink on Russian drones.
