Commemoration of the Armed Forces Day in Ukraine
In Ukraine, December 12 is celebrated as Armed Forces Day.
This day, established by the presidential decree on October 18, 1997, honors the contributions of the military as a key component of the country's defense capability.
On this day, we pay tribute to all branches of the military, including mechanized, tank, and missile forces, as well as artillery, aviation, and special units.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, emphasized the crucial role of the Ground Forces in protecting the nation.
“The Ground Forces are a combination of various military branches that ensure our defense,” he noted in his statements.
During the initial phase of the Russian aggression, it was the Ground Forces that served as the first shield against the enemy.
“Our troops defended Kyiv and liberated territories, fighting for independence,” he added.
Syrskyi also mentioned that the Ground Forces are undergoing significant transformations, incorporating modern technologies into combat operations.
“Drones and new combat modules have become part of our daily reality,” he stressed.
On this day, we honor all soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine's freedom. Eternal memory to the Heroes.
“Thank you to all military personnel for their dedication to Ukraine,” Syrskyi concluded.
