New Digital Service for Accident Reporting in Diia
The government has made a decision to launch a new service in the "Diia" app that will allow users to report European protocols starting in the first quarter of 2026. This will greatly simplify the process of documenting minor road accidents and reduce the likelihood of errors in data submission. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov.
The European protocol is a simplified procedure for documenting minor accidents without calling the police. Currently, drivers fill out documents manually or electronically, which often leads to mistakes and can result in insurance claim denials.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation states that the new digital service will significantly lower the risk of such situations. "Diia" will automatically pull data from registries, so drivers will only need to specify a few parameters and upload photos.
The accident reporting process will look like this:
- create an accident report in "Diia";
- receive automatically filled data from registries without error risk;
- upload photos from the accident scene;
- select a scheme, location, date, and time of the incident;
- send it to the other participant for approval;
- sign the document using Diia.Signature, which gives it legal force.
The status of the European protocol processing can be tracked in "Diia" in real-time. Automatic verification of information in registries will also eliminate the possibility of insurance claim denials due to mistakes in names or vehicle numbers.
