Memorial in Irpin: A Symbol of Resilience and Courage

A new memorial has been established in Irpin, embodying the spirit of resilience among its residents. The memorial stands as a tribute to the fight of the inhabitants of Borodyanka, Irpin, and Hostomel against enemy aggression.
The UVT architectural team, led by Oleksiy Agafonov along with Andrii AUM and Agafonov, has designed this unique structure.
This multi-layered metal shield symbolizes the indomitable spirit and bravery of the people.
While working on the restoration of Bahirova Street and Hostomel Highway, the team realized that the city needed not only infrastructure development but also a reminder of what it had endured.
The team expressed their desire: “We felt the need to create a memorial that embodies the resilience of people in their fight against the enemy.”
Thus, the idea of the memorial emerged – a shield reflecting how local residents resisted the invaders.
The project received support from the Kyiv Regional State Administration led by Yaroslav Yanovych and the Irpin City Military Administration.
