Ukraine's Critical Challenges: A Call for Unity
In his address, President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine faces serious challenges that could threaten its partnerships. He assured that establishing constructive dialogue with key partners is his priority.
«This is one of the most challenging moments in our history. The pressure on Ukraine has reached critical levels. We are faced with a difficult choice: preserve our dignity or risk losing key allies. We can either accept tough conditions or face the harshest winter in history», - said Zelensky.
The President stressed that instead of loud statements, calm cooperation with the U.S. and other partners is necessary.
«I will present facts, persuade, and offer alternatives, but we will not give the enemy any reason to claim that Ukraine does not seek peace or obstructs the diplomatic process», - he noted.
He also highlighted the importance of unity among the Ukrainian people during these trying times.
«I appeal to all Ukrainians. We need to unite, calm down, and stop political games. The state must function. The parliament and government of a warring nation must work together. We must remember who our true enemy is», - he said.
Recalling the early days of the full-scale invasion, Zelensky noted that many called for surrender back then, but that did not happen then and will not happen now.
«I know for sure that in this truly difficult moment, I am not alone. Ukrainians believe in their state, and we are united. This will significantly ease my efforts in negotiations with partners, as I know that the people of Ukraine stand behind me», - the President added.
He also informed that the upcoming week will be eventful and challenging. «We will work on the diplomatic front for our peace, our dignity, and our freedom. I believe that I am not alone, but together with our people, society, and allies», - Zelensky summarized.
As reported by Ukrinform, the President of Ukraine received a draft plan from the U.S. that could activate the diplomatic process.
Earlier, media reported that the Trump administration held secret consultations with Russia to develop a new plan to end the war in Ukraine, consisting of 28 points that cover peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, and future relations with Russia.
Specifically, Ukraine is expected to give up control of parts of the Donbas in exchange for security guarantees from the U.S. and Europe in case of future aggression from Russia.
The plan also stipulates that Ukraine should enshrine in its Constitution the refusal to join NATO, and the Alliance will not deploy troops on Ukrainian territory. Elections in Ukraine are to be held 100 days after the agreement is signed.
On November 21, Zelensky discussed this plan during a joint conversation with the leaders of France, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
