Honoring the Paratroopers: A New Day of Remembrance and Pride
On November 8, the day Ukraine officially honors the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces, President Volodymyr Zelensky conveyed his greetings to the soldiers, awarding them state honors and presenting unit battle flags.
The President emphasized the crucial role of Ukrainian paratroopers in all key battles and operations, noting that their strength is fundamental to success across various fronts.
«Today, our paratroopers bear immense responsibility for security in the Pokrovsk direction and in Donetsk. Their courage and bravery have been the foundation for success in many vital operations,» stated Volodymyr Zelensky.
The head of state also noted that, alongside other military components, paratroopers contribute significantly to victories on the battlefield.
«Every unit of the Air Assault Forces is a symbol of our pride and independence. Thanks to heroes like you, Ukraine remains free and ready to defend itself,» emphasized the President.
In honoring the memory of fallen soldiers, a moment of silence was observed by all present.
The President awarded honors to four Heroes of Ukraine, including:
Colonel Oleg Zmysly, commander of the 148th separate artillery brigade, who eliminated over 1600 enemies and inflicted significant losses on enemy equipment during battles.
Lieutenant Colonel Konstantin Revutsky, who distinguished himself in battles in Donetsk, destroying a significant number of invaders and their vehicles.
Soldier Vyacheslav Tkachenko, who excelled in combat near Bilohorivka in Luhansk, destroying enemy equipment and defending his comrades.
Junior Sergeant Dmytro Shavaldin, who leads a drone unit, destroying numerous enemy targets and invaders.
The President also awarded soldiers with the «Cross of Military Merit» and other state awards, highlighting their contributions to the defense of the nation.
Volodymyr Zelensky further presented a battle flag and ribbons of honor to unit commanders, underscoring their critical role in the fight for Ukraine.
