Recently, scammers have been sending out counterfeit emails pretending to be from the Ukrainian State Tax Service. This was reported by acting head of the tax service, Lesya Karnauh.
“The emails are themed around a “financial audit” concerning specific organizations. I want to emphasize! The tax service is in no way related to these emails, so we ask everyone to be cautious,” said Karnauh.
The attachments may contain malicious software. Opening these files can lead to your computer being infected with viruses and unauthorized access to your data.
Furthermore, the emails are sent from addresses that are not connected to the tax authority.
The agency advises: do not open suspicious attachments and adhere to basic cybersecurity hygiene rules.
On May 28, 2025, the Ukrainian State Tax Service warned about the widespread distribution of fake emails. The attachments contained dangerous malware that activates upon opening a PDF file, giving attackers access to the computer.
