New Border Crossing System in Poland
Polish border guards are collecting biometric data from citizens in preparation for a new border crossing system set to launch in October.
This information was shared by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, during a television broadcast.
He mentioned that the European Union had previously announced its plans to implement a new border crossing control system that will affect all Schengen Zone countries, which may initially delay processing times.
«Poland has begun testing this new system to ensure it operates more efficiently and quickly, aiming to prevent queues during processing. According to preliminary data, the system is expected to be fully operational by October. Poland is preparing for this, so we can expect longer waiting times at the border, as it will be necessary to collect biometric data from all individuals entering Poland,» Demchenko stated.
In this regard, Demchenko advised travelers to allow extra time for border crossings into Poland.
As a reminder, starting from October 12, the European Union will begin implementing a new digital control system EES (Entry/Exit System) for citizens of third countries, which will gradually replace passport stamping and collect biometric data.
