Future of Utility Tariffs in Ukraine: What to Expect?
04 September 2025 16:19
In Ukraine, an increase in utility tariffs for the population is inevitable, and sooner or later, they will rise again.
This was stated by the First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, Serhiy Nikolaychuk, in an interview.
"If for several years tariffs remain unchanged and then suddenly increase significantly, it complicates the management of inflationary processes," Nikolaychuk noted.
The NBU believes that the current subsidization of utility prices is quite burdensome for the state.
"This puts additional pressure on the budget. Therefore, sooner or later, it will need to be adjusted. In our opinion, a more predictable policy in this area would help us better forecast and manage inflationary processes," added the First Deputy Governor of the NBU.
Reminder: The debt of Ukrainians for utility services reached 106.6 billion UAH as of the second quarter of 2025.
