Financial Performance of Ukrainian Banks in 2025
In the first half of 2025, Ukrainian banks generated a pre-tax profit of 100.06 billion UAH, almost mirroring last year's figures.

Tax expenses amounted to 21.99 billion UAH — or 22% of total profit. After tax payments, the remaining profit was 78.07 billion UAH, according to analytical data.
However, as noted by Opendatabot, not all financial institutions reported positive results: 13 banks reported losses. Thus, currently, one in five banks in the country is operating at a loss.
Even those in profit do not always show growth: more than a third of profitable banks improved their indicators. The leader in dynamics is Metabank, which increased its profit 118-fold. PrivatBank showed a stable growth of 14%.
The top 10 largest banks remained unchanged. Together, they generated 68.05 billion UAH — 87% of the total sector profit.
PrivatBank accounted for nearly half of all Ukrainian banks' profits: 34.88 billion UAH profit and 11.09 billion UAH in taxes. Among state banks, only First Investment Bank reported losses (-29.43 million UAH). Conversely, Motor Bank emerged from the negative for the first time in a long while. Overall, the profit of state banks increased by 4% compared to the same period last year — primarily due to the leader, according to analytics.
Foreign banks, on the other hand, saw a profit decrease of nearly a quarter — down to 16.57 billion UAH. Raiffeisen remains the leader with a 10% growth, reporting 4.74 billion UAH in profit and 1.66 billion UAH in taxes.
Private capital banks also suffered a drop of 25% in profit, totaling 10.06 billion UAH. PUMB remains at the top with 3.57 billion UAH — a decrease of 7% from last year. Together with Universal Bank (Monobank), they accounted for 59% of the group's profit.
More than a quarter of private banks in the country closed the first half of 2025 with losses.
