Severe Weather Damages Vivat Publishing Warehouse in Kharkiv

In Kharkiv, a powerful storm has damaged the warehouse of the Vivat publishing house, tearing off part of the roof due to strong winds.

This has resulted in significant flooding – the extent of the damage is currently being assessed.

This was reported by the co-owner and CEO of the publishing house, Yulia Orlova.

“Many books have been flooded; we will only be able to determine the real extent of the damage after completing the inventory – we need to remove books from the top shelves, check the lower ones, and dry everything we can save,” Orlova shared.

The CEO added that due to the damage in the warehouse, some internet orders and shipments of new publications to partners will be delayed.

“Please understand if your package arrives later than usual. We need extra time. The Vivat staff is in touch and will promptly provide information.”

As a reminder, due to the severe weather in the Kharkiv region on July 12, a 56-year-old woman was killed when a tree fell on her. Additionally, a seven-year-old girl was injured under similar circumstances in the regional center.

Also, in Kharkiv, the roof of a private house collapsed due to the hurricane, injuring three people.

Heavy rain, hail, and gusty winds knocked down power poles and trees. A total of 171 employees from the State Emergency Service and 38 units of equipment were involved in the cleanup operation.

Due to power outages and strong winds, several trains from “Ukrzaliznytsia” were delayed.
