Man Arrested for Firework Launch from Balcony in Kyiv

Authorities apprehended an individual who launched fireworks in the Dnipro district of Kyiv. The man, under the influence of alcohol, fired off the pyrotechnic device from his apartment balcony. He faces a penalty of up to five years in prison.

The police received reports of an unknown person launching fireworks from a high-rise balcony on Voskresensky Avenue, alarming local residents. A task force was dispatched to the scene.

The offender was identified as a 43-year-old local resident, located by police at his home. He was found to be intoxicated, with a breathalyzer reading of 3.11 promille. He claimed that he wanted to celebrate a family occasion in this manner.

Authorities seized the used launching device from the site, and the man was formally charged with hooliganism under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article carries a penalty of up to five years of restriction of liberty.
