During his Sunday prayer at St. Peter's Square, Pope Leo XIV extended greetings to pilgrims from Ukraine.
According to Vatican News, he stated, «Peace is the desire of all nations and a painful plea of those who suffer from war. Let us pray that the Lord touches the hearts of leaders, guiding them to choose dialogue over violence».
The Pope highlighted that their journey to the Holy Doors in this «hot period» is particularly commendable. He also acknowledged various groups of faithful, including Greek-Catholic pilgrims from Ukraine, who responded with enthusiastic applause.
He addressed English-speaking pilgrims, expressing condolences to families who lost loved ones due to flooding in Texas.
On July 3, the Pope visited a children's camp in the Vatican, where children from Ukraine were also present.
