New Railway Connections between Ukraine and Europe
The Coordination Committee of the European Union program “Connecting Europe Facility” (CEF) has approved a project for the construction of a railway line of European standard 1435 mm between the stations of Sknyliv (Lviv) and Mostyska II (border with Poland).
The project will receive a grant of 76 million euros.
This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksii Kubel.

“The European Union has decided to provide Ukraine with 76 million euros in grant aid for the construction of a European railway between Lviv and the Polish border. The project of Ukrzaliznytsia has been approved by the Coordination Committee of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF),” the statement reads.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that this will be the first complete segment of the future direct railway connection of European standard with Europe on the route Sknyliv – Mostyska II with a gauge of 1435 mm.
“This is a clear signal that Ukraine is already part of the European transport network, and our integration is not a future event; it is happening now. This is a crucial project, especially during wartime, as it speaks to the country's ability to ensure stability, movement, and collaboration with partners,” Oleksii Kubel commented on the significance of this decision.
