The autonomous taxi service Apollo Go, owned by the Chinese company Baidu, intends to enter the European market in 2025. This was reported by CNBC.
According to anonymous sources, in the coming months, Apollo Go plans to register its company in Switzerland and commence operations in this country as well as in Turkey. Baidu has yet to comment on this matter.
Apollo Go launched its fully autonomous taxi service in China back in 2019. Currently, it is available in Beijing and several other Chinese cities. In 2024, the company introduced Apollo ADFM, which Baidu claims is the world's first Level 4 autonomous driving system.
In March 2025, the company also announced plans to expand its service in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and just last week Baidu stated that Apollo Go is conducting tests in Hong Kong.
One of Apollo Go's competitors, Pony.AI, announced earlier this month the start of a strategic partnership with Uber to launch its vehicles in the U.S. on the company's platform. Pony.AI is also planning to expand its presence in the Middle East later this year.
Tesla, which is also preparing to enter the autonomous taxi market, previously announced that it will launch its robotaxi service in June 2025.
