Preventing Dangerous Railway Activities Among Teens

The Juvenile Police of Ukraine is collaborating with Ukrzaliznytsia to launch a new initiative aimed at preventing dangerous activities among teenagers, known as train surfing.
Teens seeking thrills often climb onto train rooftops, cling to moving trains, and cross tracks in prohibited areas.
This is not a form of extreme sports; it poses real threats to life: fatal injuries, amputations, and electrocution.
From April 10 to May 10, 2025, a joint preventive campaign by the Juvenile Police of Ukraine and Ukrzaliznytsia will take place.
During this month:
- we will visit schools and vocational institutions
- we will engage in open discussions with children
- together with specialists, we will explain why the railway is not a playground!
What to do if you witness dangerous behavior by children on the railway?
If you are at a train station and see children who are:
- trying to climb onto a train
- already on the roof
- playing near the tracks
Act quickly but cautiously.
Notify the station attendant or any railway employee.
Call the police (102) or emergency services (101) — professionals will respond promptly.
Address the children who are planning to surf trains or are already outside the passenger carriage.
Document the incident and the individuals involved — this will assist in identification and informing parents.
Be vigilant with your children. Talk to them about the real risks!
