New Adoption Feature: Find Homeless Pets in Kyiv
The mobile application "Kyiv Digital" has introduced a new feature that allows users to find and adopt homeless pets. This special service consolidates information about four-legged friends from all shelters in the capital.
Project manager Yulia Ustych announced this during a press briefing.
A new section titled "Pet Adoption" has been added to the Kyiv services portal. For convenience, users can utilize filters to narrow their search based on age, gender, and type of pet.
By clicking on a pet's card, users can view photos and detailed information about the animal. The page also includes details about where the pet lives and contact information for the caregiver.
Those interested in adopting can click the "Offer a Home" button, notifying the caregiver of their intention to provide a home for the pet.
Applications for adoption are processed within three days. Once approved, potential adopters will receive a notification with information about the opportunity to meet the animal.
The transfer of the homeless pet will be conducted according to the shelter's regulations.
The "Kyiv Digital" app also features the ability to save or share a pet's profile.
Currently, the application showcases profiles of over a hundred pets, including 32 cats and 68 dogs.
According to Oleksandr Voznyi, director of the Department of Environmental Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change of Kyiv City State Administration, there are currently over seven thousand animals in Kyiv shelters.
"This number continues to rise, especially due to military actions. Volunteers and military personnel bring in animals that have been rescued almost daily, trying to find them homes in relatively safe Kyiv", – the official stated.
He added that the adoption opportunity is available not only to Kyiv residents but also to people from other cities and foreigners.
"We urge people, when possible, to adopt rather than buy pets, giving a home to those who have lost theirs and are in shelters", – emphasized Oleksandr Voznyi.
Previously, we reported on the Kyiv adoption center Patron Pet Centre, which gives new life to animals from the front lines.
