Revamp of Bridge in Kyiv: New Transport Opportunities
The reconstruction of the bridge commenced in December 2024. Road workers completely replaced the supports, spans, girders, and roadway, while also laying new asphalt on the bridge and its approaches. Communications were modernized, and LED lighting, railings, and noise barriers were installed. Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko announced this.
He stated that the reconstruction of the hazardous structure, which was initiated by "Kyivavtodor", is now complete. On Friday, November 28, the updated bridge near the "Darnytsia" metro station was opened to traffic and pedestrians.
The old bridge, built in 1963, had never undergone capital repairs. During the upgrade, road workers entirely replaced the supports, spans, girders, and roadway, modernized communications, and installed LED lighting, railings, and noise barriers. Bicycle and pedestrian paths were also created.
“One of the key stages was the relocation of a support that was previously located under the structure on Brovarskiy Avenue. Its new placement outside the roadway is intended to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow,” Klitschko noted.
The project was realized with accessibility principles in mind – ensuring comfortable movement for people with disabilities and reduced mobility groups. All work was carried out without interrupting metro and transport services on Brovarskiy Avenue.
In 2026, plans are in place to complete the renovation of the underground passage and stairs from Andriy Malishko Street, as well as finishing the bridge's decoration and landscaping of the adjacent area.
Starting today, part of the trolleybus routes has resumed operation on the updated bridge at the intersection of Budivelnykiv Street and Brovarskiy Avenue, and the Svyatoshyn-Brovar Metro line near the "Darnytsia" station. This was reported by the Department of Transport Infrastructure of Kyiv City State Administration.
In particular, trolleybus No. 29 operates on a regular route from "Kurenivka Station" to Darnytsia Square.
Additionally, on Friday, a temporary trolleybus route No. 50-A from "Myloslavska Street to Darnytsia Square" will be organized:

Accordingly, the operation of trolleybuses No. 50-K and 29-K from Myloslavska Street and "Kurenivka Station" to the "Darnytsia" metro station will be suspended.
