In 2025, the JSC «Ukrainian Railways» suffered the loss of 66 carriages, 60 of which were destroyed due to shelling. Currently, over 100 passenger carriages are undergoing repairs.
This was reported by the head of the board of UZ, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, during a conversation with journalists.
«This year, the war has cost us 60 passenger carriages. Additionally, 6 have reached their operational limits, making their continued use unsafe. We are also actively repairing the rolling stock – currently, more than 100 passenger carriages are in repair», - Pertsovskyi stated.
He noted that this year, 66 new carriages have been put into operation, compensating for some of the losses. For the next year, the company has preliminarily contracted for another 100 carriages.
«We believe that soon a budget law will be passed, which will include a program for the procurement of 100 carriages for Ukrainian Railways», - added the company leader.
According to UZ, today one carriage transports an average of 10,164 passengers per year. Next year, this figure is planned to increase to 10,600 passengers.
