Major Renovation of Kharkiv Highway in Kyiv Begins
Starting from October 5, 2025, extensive renovations on the Kharkiv Highway in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv have begun, with a budget of 1.26 billion hryvnias. The contractor company, “Avtostrada”, led by Maksym Shkil, announced this.
The renovation will cover a stretch of 5.4 km from the Darnytsia Square to the Kharkiv Square near the “Boryspilska” metro station.
The work commenced on the section from Kharkiv Square to Trostianetska Street on the odd side.
During the construction, traffic will be organized in one lane in each direction.
The project includes complete replacement of the road base, installation of a new multi-layer surface, updating the stormwater drainage system, and setting up new bus stops and raised platforms at tram stops.
Bicycle lanes are planned along the entire highway, along with repairs and modernization of all underground passages and the establishment of temporary car storage areas.
To reduce accidents, designated lanes for left turns will be included.
Tactile paving will be installed along the route, curbs will be lowered, and elevators will be added to the underground passage near the Institute of High Molecular Weight Compounds of the NAS of Ukraine.
Asphalt laying on this section is planned to be completed by the end of 2025, with the full range of works expected to finish in the first quarter of 2026.
Renovation of the remaining sections of the highway will continue throughout 2026 and most of 2027, concluding in August as per the work schedule.
Additionally, the capital repair of the damaged overpass on the national road T-10-19, intersecting with the international route M-06 near Makaryv, is ongoing in Kyiv region.
