Court Proceedings in Land Fraud Case in Kyiv
A court in Kyiv is set to hear the case against a state registrar accused of unlawfully transferring a land plot belonging to the Kyiv community, valued at over 1.5 million hryvnias.
The illegal activities of a local resident were uncovered last August by investigators from the Holosiivskyi Police Department in collaboration with operatives from the Strategic Investigations Department.
According to the authorities, the 39-year-old woman tampered with the automated system of the State Register based on forged documents, leading to the illegal re-registration of a communal land plot located in the Sviatoshyn district of the capital to a friend.
To execute the criminal scheme, she used the personal data of the man, submitting an electronic application in his name and uploading documents to the registry that did not substantiate any rights to the land plot. As a result of her illegal actions, the land worth over 1.5 million hryvnias, belonging to the Kyiv community, was illicitly re-registered, creating conditions for its further alienation.
Law enforcement documented all stages of the criminal operation. Under the procedural guidance of the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, the investigators notified the perpetrator of charges under part 5 of Article 190, part 3 of Article 362, and part 3 of Article 365-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. She faces charges of fraud committed in especially large amounts, unauthorized interference in automated systems, and abuse of authority as a state registrar.
Currently, the indictment has been sent to court. The woman faces up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. A court has already imposed a seizure on the land plot at the request of the investigators.
Additionally, the woman had previously been notified of suspicion for committing a similar crime when she re-registered four land plots valued at over 3 million hryvnias to her mother. This indictment is currently under court review.
