The third film in the «Avatar: Fire and Ash» franchise, directed by Canadian filmmaker James Cameron, has exceeded $1 billion in global box office earnings within just 18 days. According to Variety, the film has garnered a total of $1.083 billion, with $306 million coming from North America and $777.1 million from the rest of the world.
It is noted that the third installment crossed the $1 billion mark slightly slower than its predecessor. For instance, «Avatar: The Way of Water» (2022) joined the billion-dollar club after only 14 days.
The original «Avatar» from 2009 took 17 days to reach this milestone. The question now remains whether «Avatar: Fire and Ash» can maintain its momentum to surpass $2 billion in global box office receipts.
Achieving this figure will largely depend on the international audience, which was responsible for the first two films reaching such incredible heights. The first «Avatar» earned $2.1 billion outside North America, while the sequel brought in $1.65 billion in international markets.
The third film, «Avatar: Fire and Ash», collected a total of $450 million in its first week of release.
