A young man attempted to rob a coffee shop in Kyiv by threatening an employee with a firearm. He faces a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
The police received a report about a robbery at a coffee shop in the Dniprovsko district. They promptly arrived at the scene to investigate the circumstances.
The assailant entered the establishment and demanded money while threatening the employee with a gun. After failing to get the money, he tried to flee, but was stopped by bystanders who alerted the police.
Law enforcement arrested him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The suspect, a 20-year-old resident of Kyiv, was heavily intoxicated, and a firearm was seized for examination.
Investigators from the Dniprovsko police department, under the supervision of the prosecutor's office, notified the suspect of his charge under part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – robbery committed under martial law. The article carries a penalty of up to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
