Fatal Fight in Kyiv: Suspect Arrested
Authorities have charged a man with intentional murder, which could lead to a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
The Kyiv police received a report from medical personnel about a body discovered in a high-rise building on Antonovicha Street, showing signs of violent death. An investigative team from the Holosiivskyi police department arrived at the scene.
Investigators found that the deceased was a 34-year-old local resident who had attended a gathering the previous day. In the evening, another guest joined their group, and soon a conflict arose between the men, escalating into a fight.
The suspect grabbed metal handcuffs found in the apartment and strangled the victim, then fled the scene. Operatives, along with colleagues from the capital's main office and analysts from the criminal analysis sector, quickly identified and located the suspect. He turned out to be a 33-year-old native of Chernivtsi who had recently moved to the capital.
Investigators detained the offender in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and formally charged him under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional murder. The suspect is currently in custody and faces up to 15 years in prison.
