Assault on Khreshchatyk Street Leads to Serious Injury

Authorities have charged an individual in connection with the assault. Under the law, the suspect faces up to eight years in prison.
While patrolling Khreshchatyk Street, officers from the Pechersk Police Department found a man unconscious on the pavement in Kyiv. The police provided first aid and called for an ambulance along with an investigative team to determine the facts surrounding the incident.
Doctors diagnosed the 30-year-old victim with a severe traumatic brain injury, a brain contusion, and a fracture of the temporal bone.
Investigators discovered that a local resident, an MMA athlete, was involved in the crime. A conflict arose between the young man and the victim, during which the suspect punched the victim in the face, causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the ground.
Police apprehended the assailant at the scene in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged him under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional serious bodily harm. The penalties for this charge can include imprisonment for up to eight years.
