Serious Collision on Kyiv-Chop Highway Involving Four Cars
A significant traffic accident took place in the Bucha district at the 33-kilometer mark of the Kyiv – Chop highway, involving four vehicles.
According to initial reports, a 51-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Golf failed to maintain a safe distance and collided with a Daewoo Lanos. As a result of the impact, the Daewoo Lanos struck an Opel Antara and, continuing its uncontrolled motion, veered into the oncoming lane and collided with an Opel Vivaro being driven by a 46-year-old woman.
As a consequence of the crash, a 41-year-old driver of the Daewoo Lanos and a 3-year-old child passenger were taken to a medical facility, along with the female driver and a 56-year-old passenger of the Opel Vivaro.
Law enforcement apprehended the driver of the Volkswagen Golf under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The man was found to have a blood alcohol level of 1.89 promille.
Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense in the Central Region, informed the suspect of charges related to violating traffic safety rules or operating vehicles while intoxicated (part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
