On the night of November 25, over 13,000 individuals, including nearly 900 children, sought refuge in Kyiv's metro stations during an air alert. This information was released by the KP «Kyiv Metro», as reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
The metro service reminds that 46 underground stations are operating around the clock as shelters. Entrances to all stations are open, and staff on the platforms are available to assist.
For a comfortable and secure experience in the metro during alerts, the company advises bringing:
warm clothing, blankets, and mats (average temperature in shelters is 17–18 °C, drafts may occur);
personal medications and water or warm drinks in a thermos;
hygiene products, including wet and dry wipes;
for pet owners — pads and bags.
The «Kyiv Metro» urged citizens to be considerate of others' comfort and to treat station staff politely, as they ensure the metro operates smoothly during alerts. It’s worth noting that on the night of November 25, Kyiv faced a massive combined attack with drones and missiles, resulting in six confirmed fatalities.
