Violent Assault in Kyiv: Young Man Arrested with a Knife
A male has been charged with hooliganism and intentional infliction of serious bodily harm. He faces up to eight years of imprisonment for his actions.
Emergency services notified the police hotline 102 about an incident near a club in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, where a man had been injured. The investigative team from the Holosiivskyi police department arrived to establish the facts of the crime and apprehend the attacker.
It was preliminarily determined by law enforcement that the aggressor, a 21-year-old foreign citizen, was on the club's terrace and began harassing an unfamiliar girl. A 20-year-old local man who was with her intervened and attempted to stop the inappropriate behavior.
In retaliation, the suspect instigated a fight, produced a knife, and inflicted three stab wounds on the victim's chest and arm. The injured party was hospitalized.
Police apprehended the assailant under article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and, with the oversight of the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, formally charged him under part 4 of article 296 (hooliganism) and part 1 of article 121 (intentional infliction of serious bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, a decision is being made regarding the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention.
The suspect faces up to eight years of imprisonment.
