New Year Celebration Without Budget Expenses

Traditionally, the main Christmas tree of the country will be set up at Sofia Square. As in previous years, the city will not spend budget money on the holiday location; this will be covered by private sponsors, reports the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration.
The initiative for creating the festive area is taken by the company 'GLOBAL-DECOR', which will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and dismantling of all structures, as well as all related resource and financial support.
According to the decision of the capital's Defense Council, the main New Year tree, a small ice rink, and several stalls for selling confectionery and hot drinks will be established at Sofia Square.
Organizers are required to adhere to energy-saving measures and safety protocols.
Preparatory work is set to begin on November 8. The location will traditionally start operating on St. Nicholas Day — December 6, 2025. No mass events will be held at Sofia Square.
Additionally, the Defense Council recommends that local administrations in Kyiv limit mass events in open areas during the celebration of Christmas and the New Year 2026.
Last year, a 15-meter artificial Christmas tree was set up at Sofia Square, symbolizing the beginning of a bright and clean journey.
