Assault on Correctional Officer in Kyiv Detention Center

An incident occurred at the Kyiv Detention Center where an inmate inflicted injuries on a correctional officer. An investigation has been initiated regarding the intentional infliction of bodily harm to a law enforcement officer. The offender faces up to five years in prison.  
The event took place in one of the cells of the «Kyiv Detention Center». During a routine check, an internal service inspector discovered that one of the detainees was using a mobile phone in his cell. While conducting a search, the inmate issued threats and attempted to disable the officer's body camera. After the officer tried to stop the unlawful actions, the offender struck him multiple times in the face with his hands and head.
Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, informed a 37-year-old man, already arrested for aiding an aggressor state and drug offenses, of additional charges under part 2 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentionally causing bodily harm to a law enforcement officer while performing his official duties.
