New Initiative to Support Internally Displaced Persons in Ukraine
A new initiative called "Shelter. Work" was presented in the capital of Ukraine, aimed at aiding internally displaced persons in securing jobs and housing for their integration into new communities. This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Social Policy.
The "Shelter. Work" platform features job vacancies that offer housing from employers, retraining programs, and tools for job searching using artificial intelligence, along with collaboration between the government and businesses.
"When a person has a place to live and the opportunity to work, they don’t just survive; they become a part of the local community, pay taxes, raise children, and contribute to community development. "Shelter. Work" serves as a practical example of how to merge these two elements," stated Minister of Social Policy Denys Uliutyn.
Member of Parliament and project initiator Galia Yanshenko shared that the "Shelter" program started on the first day of the full-scale invasion, initially as a social media group through which over 1 million Ukrainians found shelter.
"At first, this project was merely a means for IDPs to find free housing. However, now it represents more than just finding a place to live; it’s an opportunity for people to start their lives anew," she said.
