Fraud Investigation Uncovers Budget Misappropriation in Kyiv
Kyiv police investigators, together with agents from the UCR, have uncovered a fraudulent scheme related to the misappropriation of public funds.
During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that in June 2023, the former director of a private company, along with the head of a department from the municipal enterprise «Kyivzelenbud», submitted false information in the reports during the execution of a contract.
This concerns the reconstruction and improvement of the «Orlyatko» park located in the Solomyanskyi district of the capital, specifically regarding landscaping, tile replacement, and the removal of construction debris.
It turned out that some of these works were not actually completed, yet the contractor reported them in the documentation, and the official signed the papers. As a result, the contractor received over 800,000 hryvnias from the city budget for non-existent work, as confirmed by the findings of the conducted examinations.
Currently, the former company director has been charged with providing false information in documents (Criminal Code of Ukraine) and misappropriating someone else's property through abuse of office (Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The 40-year-old former official of «Kyivzelenbud» is facing charges of aiding and abetting these acts (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 366, and Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Both individuals face up to eight years in prison.
