On Saturday night, a car crash occurred in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv around midnight. A Volkswagen driver collided with a Hyundai that was traveling in the same direction on Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street.
As a result of the collision, a 30-year-old Hyundai driver, a citizen of Tajikistan, suffered serious injuries including a closed arm fracture and was hospitalized.
The police apprehended the 24-year-old Volkswagen driver at the scene under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was found to be intoxicated, with a breathalyzer reading of 2.23 promille.
Investigators informed the arrested individual of suspicion under part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for violating traffic safety rules while driving under the influence. The penalty for this offense includes up to three years of imprisonment.
